The heyday of USAC Stock Car racing. Who had the most winged stock car races? Daytona? Talladega? Nope...it was at Wisconsin State Fair Park Speedway! See the incredible Dodge Daytona and Plymouth Superbird race side-by-side with Ford Torinos, Chevelles and other big block stock cars.
"Muscle Car Mania" is a look back at five years of epic stock car racing at Wisconsin State Fair Park Speedway at West Allis, WI. This 63-minute video recalls some of the great muscle cars that ruled the racetracks of America in those days.
While NASCAR ruled the tracks in the South, the United States Auto Club (USAC) ruled the North. Watch drivers like A.J. Foyt, Al and Bobby Unser, Norm Nelson, Roger McCluskey, Don White, Jack Bowsher and Ramo Stott race against some of the NASCAR stars like Tiny Lund, Joe Frasson and Dave Marcis. Also included is USAC Stock Car footage at Kaukauna, WI, from 1971.
We'll show you the action in the pits, the thrills on the track and the glory in victory lane. Included in this DVD are gorgeous photos from Hall of Fame photographers Armin Krueger and Russ Lake, as well as re-mastered digitized movie footage from Bill Zautke.
All footage shot on 8MM film and professionally transferred to DVD format. The DVD includes race action, pit area shots and driver close-ups. DVDs are narrated with background music and filmed in color. All footage shot at the Milwaukee Mile Speedway unless noted.
About the movie photographer:
Bill Zautke got the 8mm film bug after the birth of his daughter in 1957. He went to his first race at "The Milwaukee Mile" in 1958. After meeting Mike Billings of the Wisconsin Auto Racing Fire crew, he started filming as a credentialed movie photographer in 1960. Bill's movies were popular at his "race parties" in West Allis as well as after-season racing film parties throughout southeastern Wisconsin.
